Security Best Practices

Today, there are more than five billion Internet users exchanging, sharing, storing and retrieving information across an open, vast, and borderless digital universe. As the number of Internet users increase, the number of bad actors, cyber-criminals, and nation-state actors, whose primary mission is to exploit the vast repository of information being generated for their own gain, also increase.  As service providers, we play an integral role in ensuring the security, reliability and integrity of the Internet.  By implementing best security practices, principles, and guidelines, we can help ensure that we all do our part to make the Internet a safe, reliable, and secure ecosystem where information flows freely and securely.  One of the ways in which providers participate in this effort is by ensuring that they have terms of service (TOS) and acceptable use policies (AUP) in place.  Another is by sharing best security practices.  Below are a few links to provider’s best security practices as well as Cogent’s AUP.
