Job Summary:
The Cybersecurity Analyst is responsible for protecting the organization's information systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. This role monitors security events, investigates incidents, identifies vulnerabilities, and implements security controls to reduce risk. The Cybersecurity Analyst works closely with IT teams, business stakeholders, and external partners to ensure compliance with security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Will work closely with the CIO function to provide a cohesive plan for all cyber initiatives and continual improvement initiatives.
Compensation: [Starting / Initial] Base Salary Pay Range: $70,000 - $85,000
Specific offers within the listed pay ranges are determined by a variety of factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and business needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor security systems, networks, and applications for suspicious activity and potential threats.
- Analyze security alerts and investigate cybersecurity incidents to determine root causes and appropriate remediation actions.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts to address identified risks.
- Review and analyze security logs from various sources, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint protection platforms, and cloud environments.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures.
- Support incident response activities, including containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident analysis.
- Perform security assessments and risk analyses of systems, applications, and business processes.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to implement security best practices and controls.
- Maintain and update security tools and technologies to ensure optimal performance and effectiveness.
- Participate in security awareness and training initiatives for employees.
- Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Research emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and cybersecurity trends and recommend appropriate countermeasures.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and documentation related to security operations and risk management activities.
Qualifications:
- Cybersecurity or related associates or bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, network security, or a related technical role.
- Experience with security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and risk assessment activities.
- Strong hands-on information security skills and experience
- Ability to work independently on projects as assigned
- Excellent communication and organization skills
Proficient in the following areas:
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards related to CIS Controls
- Understanding of network security concepts, operating systems, and endpoint protection technologies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to write and present formal documentation
- Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools and security monitoring platforms is a PLUS.
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
- CompTIA Security+
- GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
Physical Requirements:
- Remains in a sitting/stationary position continually or almost continually during the work day
- Operates a computer and performs desk-based computer tasks continually; frequently viewing a computer screen
- Rarely lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling objects and/or equipment that weighs up to 50 pounds
