Job Summary:

Cogent seeks a legal and regulatory compliance coordinator who will be primarily responsible for ensuring the company’s compliance with all of its corporate and regulatory filing obligations worldwide. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely gathering and filing of documents, records, and information. This role involves creating and managing a calendaring and filing process, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that all required filings are completed in accordance with legal and regulatory guidelines.

Compensation: [Starting / Initial] Base Salary Pay Range: $31.25 - $38.46 per hour or $65,000-$80,000/yr.

Specific offers within the listed pay ranges are determined by a variety of factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Filing Preparation and Submission: Preparing and submitting all required documents, forms, and records to the appropriate authorities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Scheduling: Creating and maintaining of schedule of all required filings and a system for ensuring that filings are prepared and filed on-time
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and complete records of all filings, including dates, submissions, and responses
  • Compliance Monitoring: Regularly reviewing and evaluating compliance activities, identifying potential issues, and recommending corrective actions
  • Auditing and Reporting: Conducting internal audits of filing processes and preparing reports for management and regulatory bodies
  • Document Management: Overseeing the organization's filing system, ensuring documents are stored, organized, and easily accessible
  • Regulatory Compliance: Staying abreast of all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to corporate and regulatory filing requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and filing deadlines
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for information gathering, clear and concise documentation, and reporting
  • Record Keeping: Proven experience in maintaining accurate and organized records
  • Regulatory Knowledge: A strong understanding of regulations and prior understanding of legal and telecommunications filing obligations preferred
  • Corporate Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with corporate structures and filing obligations in international markets (e.g. annual returns, local registrations)
  • Internet Knowledge: An understanding of the Internet and how Internet services are provisioned
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make recommendations. Ability to read and understand corporate formation documents and regulatory notices
  • Filing Software Proficiency: Proficiency in using filing software and databases
  • Problem-solving: Ability to identify and resolve compliance issues
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Language: Proficiency in Spanish is ideal
  • Experience: Previous experience in legal compliance, filing, or records management is highly desirable
  • Education: College degree preferred
