Network Planning Engineer - Europe

Responsibilities:
- Learn Cogent network architecture and various types of IP equipment
- Learn various tools and Cogent standards
- Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) and Statement of Work (SOW) for a variety of IP network augmentation projects, from simple network add to more complex ones
- Approval of customer orders: evaluate those requiring minimal engineering to provision and prepare the necessary work
- Create and update engineering drawings, maps and databases
- Identify the need of and propose network upgrade
- Partner with outside organizations (Field, NOC, IP Engineering) to evaluate and solve constraints
- Expect to grow and take on additional and more advanced network planning tasks within two years
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Networking or equivalent
- 2+ years’ experience with IP Architecture and Networking
- Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills
- Good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with others on a team
- Superior skills in Microsoft Office tools, including Access, Excel, and Visio
- Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments as well as high levels of organizational skills
- Ability and willingness to learn, and a positive can-do attitude
