Title: Fiber Technician

Location: Istanbul

Responsibilities:

• Connect customers to the Cogent network at the Cogent Points of Presence (POP)
• Fiber optics network field activity, Long haul and metro on Transport and Routers
• Implementation of long haul and metro network augment, coordination and installation
• Work with Network Planning to provide Field perspective
• Work with Cogent NOC solving problems on the Cogent network
• Organize projects with contractors and internal staff
• Familiar with lone working and able to adapt

Qualifications:

The employee will carry out his activity most of the time at the Cogent network on Istanbul, travel within and outside Turkey will be required, attend daily to a Cogent office is not required. More than 3 years’ experience on telecommunication networks

Required:

• Bachelor Degree on a technical area
• Working knowledge on telecom infrastructure.
• Experience in the use of optical test equipment: power meters, OTDRs, OSAs, and interpretation of test results
• Field experience in DWDM / IP networks
• Good English level
• Driving License
• High-energy individual with interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate peers, and drive project to completion

Desired:

• Experience managing vendors and carriers
• Successful project management experience.

Reporting: This position reports to the Field Engineering Manager of Eastern Europe
