Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Fleet Manager performs many organizational and management tasks to monitor, maintain and improve the company’s fleet vehicles. Their duties and responsibilities include:

• Purchasing/Leasing vehicles to expand and/or enhance the fleet
• Scheduling regular maintenance on all vehicles through third agreements
• Approving urgent or emergency repairs as needed
• Managing vehicle licensure and registration
• Ensuring all fleet members have current license, physical well-being, driving records and up-to-date- training
• Ensuring safety practices are current and enforced
• Monitoring for DOT compliance using a third party
• Monitoring Drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and proper driving practices
• Managing asset depreciation and reporting these schedules to Finance
• Testing and new Drivers
• Providing reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance and fleet progress
• Developing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

Required Competencies, Skills and Abilities:

• Five years fleet management
• Experience managing a geographically disperse fleet
• Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations regarding fleet operation
• Team player
• Good communication skills
• Reports to the Director of Logistics; Position is located onsite at Cogent Communications Herndon, VA office
• Proficient in standard business office software.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to think independently and handle multiple projects through to completion.
• Record of successfully collaborating with and influencing senior management and peers.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff.
• Demonstrated independent work initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy, analytical ability and professional demeanor.
• Multilingual candidates strongly preferred.
• Advanced Excel experience
