Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Fleet Manager performs many organizational and management tasks to monitor, maintain and improve the company’s fleet vehicles. Their duties and responsibilities include:
- Purchasing/Leasing vehicles to expand and/or enhance the fleet
- Scheduling regular maintenance on all vehicles through third agreements
- Approving urgent or emergency repairs as needed
- Managing vehicle licensure and registration
- Ensuring all fleet members have current license, physical well-being, driving records and up-to-date- training
- Ensuring safety practices are current and enforced
- Monitoring for DOT compliance using a third party
- Monitoring Drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and proper driving practices
- Managing asset depreciation and reporting these schedules to Finance
- Testing and new Drivers
- Providing reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance and fleet progress
- Developing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency.
Qualifications:
Required Competencies, Skills and Abilities:
- Five years fleet management
- Experience managing a geographically disperse fleet
- Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations regarding fleet operation
- Team player
- Good communication skills
- Reports to the Director of Logistics; Position is located onsite at Cogent Communications Herndon, VA office
- Proficient in standard business office software.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to think independently and handle multiple projects through to completion.
- Record of successfully collaborating with and influencing senior management and peers.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff.
- Demonstrated independent work initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy, analytical ability and professional demeanor.
- Multilingual candidates strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel experience
