Network Planning Engineer - Washington, DC

Responsibilities:
- Evaluated and approve simple service orders requiring minimal engineering to provision
- Learn Cogent network architecture and various types of optical transport equipment
- Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) and Statement of Work (SOW) for simple network augmentation projects, based on high-level outline from Director or Senior Engineers
- Create and update engineering drawings, maps, and databases
- Assist with various network engineering-related activities as needed
- Expected to grow and take on additional and more advanced network planning tasks within two years
The position will be located at our Washington, DC headquarters location and will report to the Director, North American Network Planning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Physics
- Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills
- Good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with others on a team
- Superior skills in Microsoft Office tools, including Access, Excel, and Visio
- Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments as well as high levels of organizational skills
- Ability and willingness to learn, and a positive can-do attitude
