Cogent Expands Metro Presence in Germany

HAMBURG, November 28, 2005 - Cogent Communications Group, Inc. (AMEX: COI), a multinational Tier 1 Internet service provider, announced today that it has expanded its presence in Germany by building out its metropolitan footprint in several cities throughout Germany. These projects allow Cogent to reach more bandwidth-intensive customers from both the NetCentric service provider and the enterprise Corporate markets. This expansion coincides roughly with the one-year anniversary date of Cogent's GlobalAccess acquisition and the acquisition of network infrastructure from what was once Carrier1, which have now been integrated with Cogent's global network and operations.

To celebrate a successful year of growth in Germany, Cogent is co-hosting an event at the U.S. General Consulate's building in Hamburg on November 29th, 2005. Thomas Wolpert, Cogent's Country Manager for Germany, will host the event and introduce Cogent's CEO Dave Schaeffer, as well as other senior executives from Cogent, to an influential group including consulate officials and telecommunications industry executives. The event will provide an excellent forum to network and discuss further opportunities and trends in the Internet marketplace.

"Cogent consistently sees IT leaders throughout Europe and North America willing to purchase Cogent bandwidth. We offer significantly lower prices than the market charges and provide excellent network performance and customer support backed by an industry leading SLA," said Dave Schaeffer, CEO of Cogent Communications. "With this event in Hamburg, we would like to personally thank our loyal customers for their business today and continued future support."

Cogent's has steadily increased the amount of traffic and number of customers on its network, located in Europe and North America. Cogent reported its network traffic grew 30% in the 3rd quarter of 2005. Compounded annual growth in traffic for 2005 is roughly 170%. Cogent estimates that it carries approximately 12% of the world's Internet traffic based on comparisons of its data with that of third parties that publish total global Internet traffic statistics.
